The 3D BIM Modelling

The whole concept of BIM Modelling has received acceptance universally from building services, architectural fraternity and structural engineering mainly because of its need to learn construction and its cross disciplinary usage. 3D BIM modelling has been into existence for a very long time now and this industry is aggressively accommodating itself for embracing the new workflow of the process of BIM. However, there’s still lack of some clarity amongst owners regarding what they would achieve from such models exactly, what needs to be achieved and how can they make full use of the concept.

3D CAD models
The 3D CAD modelling is a virtual representation of the facility which offers just visual details. Applications like AutoCAD architecture as well as Auto CAD MEP are mainly used for creating the 3D CAD model which could be used for development, designing, construction as well as pre fabrication. On the contrary, the BIM model is intelligent model embedded with the parametric detailing which is quite important for designing, development, pre fabrication, construction, assembly, analysis of energy performance as well as facility management of built environment. For the BIM project, the details could be efficiently shared with the project stakeholders, designers, architects, facility owners, fabricators, MEP engineers, contractor and consultants.

A very important aspect which helps in deciding if BIM is required is achieving an in depth knowledge of the purpose of the model. There is often a difference between the stated needs of the client and real needs of the client.
