Structural Model also known as structural equation modeling is widely used cross-sectional statistical modeling techniques. Regression, path analysis and factor analysis represents the structural model.
Structural model is a confirmatory technique than the exploratory, which enables researchers to use it to determine if the model is valid or not. This model will also involve exploratory elements according to the requirements.
Key Features of Structural Model:
• The structural equation modeling is used for analysing structural relationships.
• This is the combination of multiple regression analysis and factor analysis
• It is used for analysing structural relationship between latent constructs and measured variables
• It is preferred widely by the researchers as it helps to estimate multiple and interrelated dependence in just a single analysis
• Exogenous and endogenous variables are used in this model
Theories of Structural Model:
There are basically two type theories used and they include:
• Measurement model: This model represents theory specifying how the measured variables come together for representing the theory
• Structural model: This model represents the theory, showing about how the constructs are related to another constructs
The structural model is also called as casual model, as it tests proposed casual relationships.
The structural model further implies the structure of covariance matrix of variable measures. On estimating the parameters of the models, it becomes possible to compare the covariance matrix and as the result the structural model can be considered for the plausible explanation to know the relations between measures.
Structural model majorly focuses on the abstract psychological variables, such as attitude or intelligence towards the brand.
